Does Chime work with Venmo? | Detailed Guide

Chime and Venmo are two popular payment apps with millennials. If you are looking to make these two great apps work together and get the best of both, you are on the right post. It is indeed possible to make Chime work with Venmo. And in this post, we will cover all the steps on how to link your Venmo account to Chime and transfer funds from Chime to Venmo account and vice versa.

Chime and Venmo Compatability

While Chime is not a bank in itself (being a Fintech company), it offers online-only banking services in partnership with The Bancorp Bank and Stride Bank, N.A.

Chime app gives you all the features and services of a bank like a debit card, direct deposit, mobile check deposit, ATM access, etc. with almost no fees. Not to mention the FDIC insurance of up to USD 250K through its bank partners.

Venmo app, on the other hand, allows you to send or split payments with your friends with a cool social touch. Being owned by Paypal, it has a rapidly growing user base and keeps adding new features.

One of the perks of Chime is that it can link seamlessly with most payment apps that include Venmo, Cash App etc.

Let’s get into the details on how to use Chime with Venmo.

Does Chime work with Venmo?

Yes, you can use Chime with Venmo, by adding your Chime debit card or Chime bank account as a payment method in Venmo app. Venmo App allows you to link Chime bank account (using Plaid Verification) or Chime debit card by entering the card details.

To add your Chime card in Venmo App, go to the Me Tab (tap on your profile picture or initials) on the Venmo app home screen, next go to Settings (gear icon), next select “Payment Method” and then select “Add Bank or Card“.

So, these are 2 ways in which you can link your Chime to Venmo and make Chime and Venmo work together.

The first way is to add the Chime Debit Card as a payment method in your Venmo App by entering your card details.

The second way is to add the Chime Bank account to Venmo using Plaid verification, with the help of your online banking credentials.

Pro Tip: Chime Card is compatible with most payment apps. If you use PayPal, you can also link up your Chime Account with PayPal. If you use other wallets, Chime also works with Cash App. You can also add your Chime Card to Apple Pay to make payments using Chime from your Apple Pay wallet.

So this is the method we can use to link your Venmo account with Chime and transfer funds from your Chime account to Venmo and vice versa i.e. from Venmo App to Chime Account.

Once you link your Chime Bank Account in the Venmo App, you can add funds to the Venmo Account or even cash out when needed using this linked Chime bank account or debit card.

In fact, you can make payments using the Venmo app directly from such linked debit card or bank account without even adding funds to Venmo account.
