Can I Get Cash App Card for Child | How to Get a Cash App Card for Child [Yes, Easy Guide]

Cash App from Square Inc (now called Block Inc.) is immensely popular with tech-savvy millennials. And it comes with the handy Cash App Card to pay all your daily expenses. While Cash App continues to grow its adult user base, you can now even get the Cash App Card for your child.

If you are aged 13-17 years, you can get a Cash App Card with your parent’s consent. In this guide, we will cover all the intricacies involved and step on how to get a Cash App card for your child.

Cash App rolled out this feature in November 2021 to target the teenagers and kids group, which has a huge demand. Earlier it was not legally allowed for minors to hold a Cash App account or a card.

While Cash App promotes this new feature as a step toward financial inclusion, there are already players in the market like Greenlight, Famzoo, and Step targeting this segment.

As a minor, you don’t get full-fledged access to a Cash App account but to a set of basic features like the ability to send, receive money, use Cash App Card for purchases, make ATM withdrawals, and cash-out balance, etc.

The way it works is that the child i.e. your son or daughter can download the Cash App on their mobile, get the parent’s consent online to open the account & use the features like Cash App card using the app.

This is a completely online process but the parent needs to have an active Cash App and Cash Card beforehand to approve this request. Once the consent is given, the child can go ahead using Cash App to customize the design for their Cash App Card and order it in the app.

The legal owner of the child’s account is the Parent. The Parent must be an active Cash App user holding the Cash App Card to be able to approve the request from the Child. The Parent can view the activity like the transactions of the child in their monthly statement

Cash App has kept limits on what features are accessible to minor accounts which include money transfer limits, restrictions on certain types of purchases, and providing parent/guardian visibility on the account usage. The Parent can also de-activate the card and account by contacting the support team when required.

Request for Approval of the Parents by applying for the Cash Card

Minor can apply for the Cash Card from his or her account, which will trigger the request to the Parent to approve it on their Cash App account. The request for approval is automatically triggered once a child attempts either of two actions i.e. 1) Requesting a Cash Card or 2) Sending a payment from their stored Cash App balance (if any -refer below on the steps to do this)
