11 Venmo Debit Card Questions [With Easy Answers]

Venmo, the popular payments app from PayPal, for making payments for your daily purchases with a ton of social features. One benefit of Venmo is the Visa debit card offered by Venmo, which is linked to your Venmo balance and works pretty similar to a normal debit card. In this post, we provide answers to a ton of common questions you may face on the Venmo Debit Card like does Venmo offer a virtual debit card, Venmo debit card limits, can you get cash back on Venmo Debit Card, etc.

Does Venmo have a Virtual Debit card? Is the Venmo Debit Card Virtual?

No, Venmo does not offer a virtual debit card on the Venmo App. You can only make transactions using the physical Venmo card or directly using the Venmo wallet.

This is unlike other apps like Cash App etc. which do offer a virtual Cash Card within the app, to use in absence of the physical Cash Card.

In fact, Venmo does not even display your Venmo debit card number and its details inside the app, citing security reasons.

As Venmo can work online directly as a payment method in many merchant apps and websites, Venmo does not seem the need to launch a Virtual Debit Card at the moment.

However, if you apply for a Venmo credit card, you get this feature of Virtual Card.

So it is a bit surprpising and probably there may be a virtual debit card offered in the future.

No, Venmo currently provides a physical debit card that can be used online or in stores as a normal debit card.

You can apply for the Venmo debit card using the Venmo app and it is sent by post to your mailing address within 15 business days.

You can get Cash Back offers on your Venmo Debit Card, by making eligible purchases at participating merchants using your Venmo debit card. You can find the active merchant offers for cash back by going to the Offers section of the Venmo app.

The Venmo Offers is powered by Dosh rewards system. When you swipe your Venmo Debit Card, Dosh checks to see if it is eligible for a cashback reward. If the transaction is eligible for a reward, Dosh will send cashback to your Venmo account after the merchant completes the charge.

Do note that these offers running on Venmo Debit Card may be different and should not be confused with the cash back offers running on Venmo credit card.

Also, here we are talking about Cash Back offers. Venmo also allows you to perform a cash back transaction which is akin to withdrawing cash at ATM. For this, you need to make a purchase at an eligible store using Venmo debit and at the time of checkout on the PoS, you get an option for cash back to withdraw cash (which is counted within your ATM withdrawal limit) along with the purchase. Eligible stores for Cash back include Target, Walmart, Walgreens etc.
