But is Cash App the same in USA and UK? Not exactly
While the look and feel of the Cash app is quite similar, when it comes to features, you can do a lot more with the app if you are in USA. You don’t get the options to invest in stocks and other classes, which are currently available only in the US. Also, you don’t have an option to get Cash App Debit Card called as the Cash Card, linked to your Cash App account, which you can get in USA (may change in the future)
You also don’t get option to add money to Cash App Wallet. Instead, you can only link a bank debit card and use it to as payment method to pay using this app or receive money from friends.
The good thing now is that Cash App also supports international payments from US to UK or vice versa. So if you are in UK and have friends or relatives in USA or vice versa, you can send them money via Cash App. Obviously, both of you need to be on Cash App to be able to use the transfer.
And remember to use Cash App only to receive or send money ONLY to your friends and family members, who you know and trust. There are plenty of scams that go around with people using Cash App and it is best to avoid any messages (especially emails) from strangers claiming to send payments.

Does Cash App work in UK
Yes, you can download and use Cash App in UK. However, the UK Version of Cash App does not have many features available in USA version like Cash Card, investing options, the ability to hold money in Cash App Wallet.
However, you can send money internationally from Cash App UK to a user in USA.
How to Use Cash App in UK
- Download the Cash App from Apple App Store or Google PlayStore
- Complete the registration by entering your mobile number
- You can add a bank account with the debit card number, which can then be used as payment method to pay with Cash App or “Skip It” (if you don’t want to link it)
- Enter full legal name when prompted
- Set up a CashTag (pound followed by a name) which is a unique username for yourself in CashTag

- Tap on “Pay” on Cash App Home Page
- Enter an amount
- Type the recipient’s £Cashtag, current phone number, or email address
- Select a funding source (a supported UK-issued Visa or MasterCard debit card)
- Press Pay
- Confirm using Face ID, Touch ID, or your PIN
How to receive or add money to Cash App
In UK, you cannot add money to your Cash App account from a linked bank account or debit card. The only way to fund your Cash App account is by receiving money from other Cash App users.
But you can do is make payments directly from a linked debit card using Cash App as a wallet only, without holding any balance in your Cash App account (similar to Apple Pay)
Cash App UK Limits
You can send up to £250 and receive up to £500 within any 7-day period within the UK, without verification. Once you verify your account, you can send up to £1,500 and receive up to £10,000 within any 7-day period within the UK.
Update: Recently it seems the limits have been reduced greatly to £100 send/receive and cashing out £200 every 30 days.
When you can attempt to send money beyond your limit or attempt to receive/send an international payment, Cash App will display the verification prompt. You will be prompted to enter the details of your full name, date of birth, and address etc. to complete the verification process.
Once verified, you will also be able to send and receive £1,000 in international payments to your friends and family members in USA, who have Cash App.
Can you Use Cash App internationally- Sending Money from US To UK
You can send or request Cash App payments with friends located in the UK.
When you send a payment from US to UK, Cash App will convert the payment from USD to GBP using a mid-market exchange rate (Average of buy and sell rate of banks) which is usually displayed at the time the payment and your recipient will receive the funds in GBP.
On their website, Cash App mentions that there are no fees to send or request payments with friends in the UK. However, there may be a fee charged by your bank.
Update: Recently many users have been complaining of the UK and US international transfer facility is no longer working.
How Many Countries use Cash App?
Cash App is currently available only in USA and UK. It is not available in other countries including Canada etc.
With the growing demand for its services, Cash App may soon expand its presence globally. However, dealing with different market regulations may be one of the challenges.
