Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) is a growing trend to pay for your heavy purchases in easy installments. If you are interested in knowing which BNPL apps accept Chime, you are on the right post. Read this post to find out and get the complete idea on if all the popular Buy Now Pay Later apps like AfterPay, Affirm, Klarna, Splitit, etc. support Chime and what are the steps and intricacies you should be aware of to use these services with Chime.

What is Buy Now Pay Later Service

Buy Now Pay Later is a payment option where you can pay for your purchases in installments, rather than paying the entire amount upfront.

Usually, the purchase amount is split into affordable payment milestones over a certain number of weeks.

There may or may not be interest charged, depending on the repayment term and service you use. However, you do have to incur late fees if you don’t pay the installments on time.

Buy Now Pay Later is growing as a popular payment option. Especially for the high ticket items which otherwise burn a hole in your pocket. It is also cheaper than a credit card repayment, which can cost you interest rates as high as 16% for delays.

It has also become more convenient to pay on BNPL apps, with several market players offering an easier interface and the ability to automate repayments from your bank account.

Affirm, AfterPay, Klarna, Sezzle and Paypal are some of the most popular Buy Now Pay Later services. But do all these services work with Chime? Let’s see this in detail.

It seems to be working well to pay your Afterpay loan from your Chime account.

Afterpay is one of the popular Buy Now Later Apps founded in Australia.

As AfterPay accepts all major debit and credit cards, you can add the Chime Debit card in the Afterpay app- either setting it up as a method of automatic payment when your installment is due. Alternatively, if you are paying manually on the due date, you can still do so using the Chime Card using the “Pay Now” option.

  5. Enter the Chime Card Details and follow the steps

Does Klarna Accept Chime

No, Klarna does not accept Chime and there have been multiple issues reported by users attempting to use Klarna with Chime. However, you may be able to link the Chime Credit Builder Card successfully with Klarna.

Klarna is a major Buy Now Pay Later service with a presence in more than 15 countries, which is a product of a Swedish company.

This is actually surprising as Klarna website does mention it accepts all major debit and credit cards (issued by Mastercard, VISA, AMEX). However, it does not seem to support Chime debit cards, if you go by the practical experience. Even when the Chime debit card is on the Visa network. So it is not clear as to why this is an issue and could be resolved in the future.

However, there is a silver lining. You may be able to use Klarna App if you have a Chime Credit Builder Card, which is a secured credit card offered by Chime.

While it is not a foolproof method, many users have been able to use Chime Credit Builder cards successfully with Klarna.

Is Buy Now Pay Later a good option?

Buy Now Pay Later should not make you get into things that you feel too expensive otherwise. It is just a convenient option that helps you manage your cash flow.

It does not increase the affordability of a product. You have to pay later, with the payment schedule decided at the purchase itself. First, ask yourself- can you afford the total product price based on your overall budget and then only look at installment amount from a cash flow perspective.

A report says that more than half 57% of users regretted making a purchase through Buy Now, Pay Later because the item was too expensive.

So use it with caution with clarity of your budget. Don’t get clouded with the installment amount, but look at the overall price of the product when making the decision.

Conclusion

So most of the popular Buy Now Pay Later Apps to seem to be working fine with Chime. Whether it is Affirm, AfterPay, QuadPay, etc. they all work fine with Chime App. Klarna can be a little difficult but you can certainly try and use a Chime Credit Builder Card for a better chance of success with Klarna. With Sezzle too, there have been problems reported. Hope this post was useful to you.

  1. I’ve tried to link my chime credit builder and chime spending debit cards to sezzle only to be told that these cards are not supported. Everywhere I read on the subject says that chime is accepted by sezzle. Can never chat with anyone bc it take so long for an agent to respond.
